Greater Wakatobi & Banda Sea Itineraries

There are different sections of Wakatobi (and nearby Buton) included in our itineraries:

All eastern and southern islands from Pulau Runduma to Pulau Moromaho.
The Big Reef (on the chart marked as Karang Kaledupa, but more than 50% belongs to Tomia).
Buton diving muck diving in Pasarwajo Bay at Dongkala and possibly walls further south and north.

7-days/ 7-nights: Wakatobi & The Banda Sea

Komodo National Park and Rinca Areas

The classic cruise to the Komodo Islands, home of the Komodo Dragon. A World Heritage Site since 1991, the Komodo Islands remoteness has left this area largely unchanged since the time of the dinosaurs. The nutrient-rich currents bring in a staggering variety of life. Get ready for incredible walls, sea mounts, drop-offs and coral reefs teaming with soft corals and marine life of every variety. Truly fabulous diving.

This unique routing departs from and arrives back into the port of Bima, in Northeast Sumbawa, near Komodo. The domestic flight from Bali is included in the cost of the Pelagian trip just as they are for the Wakatobi flight, the only difference being we use a commercial airline for this leg. Arriving in Bima shaves a day's cruise off the back end of the trip, maximizing your time in the Komodo region.

What's included?

Prices also include flights from Denpasar Airport, Bali to Bima the port of departure, and return flights back to Bali on arrival day. Or, you can meet the boat in Bima but only at your own risk. Due to continually changing schedules by the domestic airlines in Indonesia, we cannot be sure very far in advance exactly what time these flights will depart and return, so it's prudent to schedule your trip so that you arrive in Bali at least one day prior to departure, and stay one more night after the return date.

Note: We can take no responsibility for scheduling or itinerary changes due to changing weather, political situations, natural disasters or other events beyond our control. We strongly recommend that you purchase travel insurance for any kind of trip you do anywhere in the world.

Pelagian and Wakatobi also require that you purchase DAN or other diving accident insurance and that it is current and up to date in case of an unanticipated evacuation or other treatment that may not be covered by your regular insurance.

7-days/ 7-nights (or longer): Bima - Komodo - Bima
Day 1	Flights normally depart at 9:00 AM from Denpasar (DPS), but due to constantly changing flight times in Indonesia, we can't be sure and we will inform you closer to departure time. Depart Bimi early afternoon on the arrival day and direct transit to Sangeang Island.
Day 2	Banta Island: Four dives at It’s a Small World, Star Wars, K2, High Way to Heaven or Hell (all site selection depends on currents). Overnight steam from Satonda to Sangeang for four dives (black sand and critters), including bubble rock (critter dive with gases from the volcano coming out of the sand).
Day 3	Lawa Laut in the morning two dives at either Hard to Find Rock, Easy to Find Rock, or Ikellite Point (depending on conditions). Over lunch, steam to Pantai Merah Muda (Pink Beach). Option includes choice to watch the bat colony depart and get closer for better pictures / spend time on the beach / more diving. Water here can be as cold as 20ºC or 70ºF so be prepared.
Day 4	Early morning start land tour of Komodo Park. Guests have to pay an additional fee for cameras and videos brought into the park. Prices were for still Cameras Rp10,000, Video Rp100,000). See and photograph Komodo dragons, wild boar, deer, birds, followed by shopping at the local market for pearls, wood carvings etc. Leaving the Komodo dragons, we steam to Horseshoe Bay, where we general spend 1 ½ days at Horseshoe bay, Cannibal Rock, Torpedo Alley, Yellow Wall, Crinoids Cannon, The pinnacle and more.
Day 5	Horseshoe bay, Cannibal Rock, Torpedo Alley, Yellow Wall, Crinoids Cannon, The Pinnacle and more. Water here can be as cold as 20ºC or 70ºF so be prepared.
Note: For longer trips, the remaining dives will be in this area described above, in Rinca and that area.
Day 6	Dive Sangeang before heading into Bima or maybe another location closer Bima entrance.
Day 7	Disembark morning at Bima, fly back to Bali (Denpasar).
